FAQs

Order Instructions

How do I order a bin?

There are two easy methods that you can order your waste disposal bin. Call our office at 780-453-2767 and speak to our friendly staff or email us through our website. We have personnel standing by 24/7 to provide you with a prompt reply and answer any questions you may have.

How do I pay?

We have three simple methods of payment. We accept payment by cheque or credit card. Our service requires that you pay prior to or at time of delivery.

How soon do I have to call to reserve a container?

An advanced notice of 3 -5 days is appreciated. Ask about our premium same day service or immediate orders.

Do I have to be home when they deliver the bin?

No. We ask that you provide CWD with detailed instructions on where you would like the bin placed. From there we will take care of the rest. For precautionary purposes, in order to protect our customer’s property, CWD takes a picture of each and every bin that we drop at our customer’s job-sites prior to our driving leaving the location. This is done to ensure that CWD and the customer’s property remain unharmed during the rental period.

Do I have to call or does the bin get picked up automatically after the agreed upon rental period?

Unless a pre-arranged time is set, we don’t pick up the bin until we are contacted and pick-up arrangements are made and confirmed.

Home Preparation

Will the bin damage my driveway?

Our containers have rolling wheels on the bottom of the bin to assist rolling the bin into place. With that being said, these containers are extremely heavy and even with our smallest bins there will still be a possibility. To help mitigate any possible damage, customers should place a flat piece of plywood underneath the bin’s idol location to avoid any such possibility of damage.

Can I place it on my lawn?

There is a high potential for damage with the weight of the trucks. This is not suggested.

Can I place it on the street in-front of my house?

In many circumstances CWD is able to use the street for spotting containers in the city of Edmonton. For surrounding communities we are unable to provide permits for spotting on streets as these municipalities do not allow for this.

Contents Inside the Bin

What can I throw in the bin?

Depending on the project, nearly all construction materials can be thrown in the same container. Below is a list of specific items:

  • Wood
  • Drywall
  • Shingles
  • Furniture
  • Glass
  • Cardboard
  • Insulation
  • Paper
  • Plastic
  • Tree trimming
  • Metal
  • Ceramic Tiles

The materials below can be extremely heavy. Not only are they hard on our equipment, but it may also be over the legal weight limit to transport on the roadways. These materials should not be thrown into our bins. Please contact our staff to set up alternative arrangements to handle any of these materials:

  • Compost
  • Soil/ Sand
  • Bricks
  • Concrete
  • Appliances
  • Insulation with asbestos

Nearly all materials listed above are taken to what is called a CLASS 3 disposal site. CLASS 3 essentially means it is primarily for dry waste.

How much can I throw in the bin?

We are restricted by transportation regulations on the weight of a truck and the method in which it is transported.
Our bins can be filled to the top of the walls as long as nothing is sticking out and everything is packed inside the bin. Having contents hanging over the sides and overflowing will cause issues for our staff when picking up the container and ensuring that the contents remain in the bin during transportation. If you are unsure of the size of bin needed for the type of waste you have, one of our staff will happily assist you in making the proper choice.

Can I move the bin?

Customers must not use equipment/vehicles to try to move the bin. Any damage to the bin or driveway will be the responsibility of the customer in these instances. If the bin is moved by a customer, the driver may not be able to pick up the bin if its position has been altered.
